Report: Mini Rocketman receives thumbs-up for production

Following the debut of the Mini Rocketman at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, it was reported that the concept could enter production as a subcompact from the BMW-owned brand.

According to a new report, with the way fuel-economy regulations have been panning out and gas prices skyrocketing, Mini is planning to put its baby Rocketman into production. Insiders say that the Rocketman could eventually become the best-selling new Mini ever.

The Mini Rocketman could also create a new entry point for Mini buyers, bringing with a new era of 3-cylinder engines, all-electric option and lightweight materials.

The Mini Rocketman won’t hit markets until 2014, while the Mini Coupe and the Mini Roadster will be available at dealers next year.
