2011 New York: Mercedes-Benz talks about A-Class, C-Class, C63 AMG Coupe (w/ video)
At the 2011 New York Auto Show press days, we had the chance to catch-up with Mercedes-Benz and talk about the new A-Class, 2012 C-Class lineup and the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe. Mercedes-Benz Product Management Robert Burns and Scott Keilman were kind enough to give us some info on the three new upcoming models from Benz.
Things we asked Burns and Keilman:
- Will the production A-Class come to the U.S.? Keilman basically told us what we already knew saying that it will be coming to the United States – hopefully sometime next year.
- How many variations of the A-Class will come to the U.S.? Keilman said that Mercedes-Benz is planning about 4 variants that could be based on the A-Class platform.
- New 2012 C-Class Sedan/Coupe do you expect buyers to opt for new 4-cylinder? Burns said that there is certainly a trend right for the industry to move towards smaller displacement engines and with gas prices going the direction that they’re going, the new 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo is something Benz is really excited about and thinks will attract a younger crowd.
- With the 2012 C63 AMG Coupe do you think you have surpassed the BMW M3 benchmark? Burns said that with M3 setting the benchmark in the segment for quite sometime, we think the C63 AMG Coupe could definitely help us makeup some ground.
