Earlier this month we saw pictures of what is being called a GTS version of the BMW M3 Sedan. Details are still a bit vague, but BMW promises to provide more info at the M Festival at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring later this year.

Not really caring to wait for additional details, the folks over at M3Post decided to ask BMW M Brand and Alpina Manage for the U.S., Matt Russell, whether or not the new lightweight BMW M3 Sedan will come to the United States.

Sadly, Russell said that there are currently no plans to offer the model in the U.S. market due to strict homologation issues. He said that it is difficult to get high-performance vehicles federalized for sale in United States.

Reports state that the lightweight BMW M3 Sedan will fit somewhere between the M3 and the M3 GTS and will be powered by a more powerful version of the 414 4.0L V8 in the standard M3 rather than the 444-hp 4.4L found in the M3 GTS Coupe.
