Here is a lesson on how not to represent a company left to you by your family.

An heiress to the FoMoCo throne was arrested late Sunday in Ferndale and is being accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Elena Ford, 44, is Henry Ford’s great-great-granddaughter and is the most prominent member of the family at the automaker after Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr.

Elena also faces child endangerment charges since her son was in the Ford Explorer at the time she was driving.

Police did not elaborate on the situation, but it is said that the Explorer leaped a curb near Nine Mile and Woodward in Ferndale.

Elena’s attorney Todd Flood decline to elaborate on the situation, calling it a ‘private matter.’

Elena became director of global marketing, sales and service at FoMoCo – a newly created position in 2009.
