According to German publication Focus, the 2012 BMW M5 will have an increased top speed of up to 189 mph, but only for the German market.
While those in the United States and other parts of the world will have to deal with the electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph, those living in Germany can pay an extra couple thousand to increase their top speed to 189 mph. The package will be combined with a driver training program.

But there is something that Americans will be getting over the Germans – a manual transmission. The 2012 BMW M5 will be available with a 7-speed DCT with paddle-shiftters or a manual. In Germany, the new M5 will only be offered with an automatic.
The 2012 BMW M5 will debut next month.
