Chrysler’s headcount at its Auburn Hills headquarter fell to around 7,700 after it came out of bankruptcy in 2009. Back then, space wasn’t issue at the HQ, but now Chrysler is running out of room at the place and is seeking additional place for office workers it’s hiring.
According to Ralph Gilles, head of Chrysler design and CEO of the Dodge brand, the number of workers at Auburn Hills has increased to 10,760. Chrysler’s headquarter building is designed to hold about 11,000 people, Gilles said.
“It’s very full in there,” Gilles said. “It really is exciting.”
He said that Chrysler is trying to keep vital company functions within the building, while moving ‘more service-type stuff’ to other locations.
