Volkswagen recalling Routan minivan over ignition switches

Volkswagen is recalling some 378 units of the Routan minivan from the 2010 model year due an issue with the ignition switch that can move from the run to accessory position on its own, turning off the engine.

Chrysler last week recalled about 250,000 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans and Dodge Journey units over the same issue. As many of you know, The Routan is built by Chrysler for Volkswaegn.

Chrysler has told the North American Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it has received 32 customer complaints and knows of two rear-end crashes.
