FoMoCo is all about being global – so much so that the company’s next American icon will have styling influenced by its design studios worldwide. According to Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s group vice president for global product development, styling ideas for the next-generation Ford Mustang will be provided by its design studios from all over the world.

“It is a common process we [now] use on every vehicle,” Kuzak said at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Kuzak said that styling themes for the next-generation Ford Mustang will be proposed by studios in Europe, Australia and other regions.

“When we embark on a new product, particularly one that is all new, it involves all of the studios. Then J [Mays] and the design team pick the best of those themes,” Kuzak told Automotive News. Mays is Ford’s global design chief.

No word on when the next-generation Ford Mustang will arrive but sources say we should expect to happen in 2014 or 2015.
