Cadillac ATS Convertible to get soft-top, ATS-V may get 470-hp 6.2L V8

On October 28, 2010, General Motors confirmed that it is investing $190 million in its Lansing Grand River assembly plant for the production of a new compact Cadillac model, known as the ATS. We’ve heard reports for quite some time now that the ATS lineup will features a 4-cylinder variant, an ATS Coupe, ATS Convertible and an ATS-V. Today we have some new details on the ATS Convertible and the ATS-V.
According to sources, the convertible version of Caddy’s BMW 3-Series rival will have a soft top rather than a folding hardtop. The decision saves money, complexity and weight.
As for the Cadillac ATS-V, sources have been saying that the model will be powered by a 3.2L V6 twin-turbo. However, new reports suggest that a 6.2L small-block V8 could make its way in the ATS-V making 470-hp.
We’re in favor of the V8 but we won’t hold our breath.
