Chrysler employee files lawsuit against UAW for sexual harassment

Here is some bad news for the United Auto Workers. A Chrysler employee claims that she was fired after she broke off a relationship with a UAW official. The details were released in a lawsuit filed yesterday in federal court.

Filed by Janet Burney, a member of the UAW Local 51 at Chrysler’s Mack Avenue plant, the lawsuit accuses the UAW of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and retaliation.

Burney is seeking an unspecified amount of money for lost wages, benefits and emotional damages, according to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

A UAW spokeswoman could not be reached for comment by The Detroit News.
