Dodge Viper alive and well, development moving forward

Dodge’s supercar, the Viper is all but dead says brand CEO Ralph Gilles. The car was discontinued last year after its 18-year run as a favorite among enthusiasts who were drawn heavily to its 600-hp V10 engine. Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne revealed a concept last fall of a new Viper during a dealer meeting, which is reported to carry and Italian theme.

Gilles also mentioned the Challenger, the other iconic coupe from Dodge. He said that the car will continue to evolve, but that we shouldn’t expect any drastic changes. He drew comparisons between the Challenger and Jeep Wrangler, which has gone largely unchanged, at the behest of its loyal fans.
“I think styling is what people love about it,” he said. “They almost don’t want it to change.”
