Bentley’s new V8 to come in two versions, single-turbo and twin-turbo

There is a lot of anticipation in the automotive industry for Bentley’s new V8 powerplant. Latest reports suggest that the new Bentley V8 will come in two different variants including one with a single turbo and one that is twin-turbocharged.

Insiders at Bentley say that the new V8 unit will be used in the Continental GT for the first time and will be offered with 415-hp in a single turbo version and 555-hp in a twin-turbocharged version.

It has been previously reported that the Continental GT’s new V8 will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission from Audi, known as the S Tronic.

All we know is Bentley really needs to hurry up with this thing.

Refresher: The 2011 Bentley Continental GT 6.0L twin-turbo W12 engine making 567-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic with quickshift and steering wheel-mounted paddleshifters, 0 to 60 mph comes in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph. A V8 will be available to order in late 2011 – technical details have yet to be released.
