The folks at Chevrolet are beginning to look out for their customers in a way that other automakers probably don’t. Chevrolet has given a new Malibu to a man whose old one was crushed when a tractor-trailer crashed into it trapping him in the car.
Mark Keinath of Millington, Michigan was driving his 2004 Chevrolet Malibu on Interstate 75 when he drove over a patch of black ice and spun out. After he regained control of the vehicle, a tractor trailer carrying 20 tons of sugar smashed into the rear of the Malibu before falling on top.
As the Chevrolet Malibu began to get crushed by the weight of the trailer, Keinath fully reclined his seat to give him more room and called 911.
“This is an incredible story of survival that shows you just never know what’s going to happen on the road,” said Rick Scheidt, executive director at Chevrolet. “When you look at Marc’s Malibu, you would never expect anyone would ever walk away from it.”
