Keep waiting Yankees: BMW X1 delayed until fall of 2011

BMW X1

Do you keep wondering when the BMW X1 compact crossover will make it to the United States (in fact, I know one that works here at egmCarTech and e-mails me at least once a week about the car)? Sadly enough, BMW has delayed the U.S. market launch of the X1 from early 2011 to fall of 201.

Apparently, the plant at which the X1 is produced, the Leipzig, Germany plant, can barely make enough of them for the European market – so adding additional units for the U.S. market is not possible at this point for the German automaker.

But that’s not the case for all of North America. According to BMW spokesman Tom Plucinsky, the X1 will be in Canada early this year as scheduled.

The BMW X1 will come to the United States in the xDrive28i gasoline model. It is powered by a 3.0 6-cylinder making 231-hp and a 199 lb-ft of torque.
