Report: Cadillac considering Mercedes CL-size high-performance coupe

What’s next on the map for Cadillac? As far as we know, Cadillac’s next move will be the XTS, a sedan that that will replace the STS and DTS. The Cadillac XTS is planned to go on sale next year and will be based on the XTS Platinum Concept unveiled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.

The first will be a flagship sedan, known internally as ‘UP.’ The model is expected to be a large luxury sedan with pricing starting around $80,000. It will compete with the likes of an Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, Lexus LS and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The sedan will be rear-wheel-drive and will be larger than the XTS.

The second vehicle under consideration is a low volume, more expensive coupe. According to CARandDRIVER, Caddy bosses are considering a Mercedes-Benz CL-sized high-performance coup with a mid-engine layout. Very interesting.
