Report: Ferrari working on 612 Scaglietti shooting brake concept for Geneva

Ferrari may not have any plans to do a four-door to compete with the likes of the Porsche Panamera, Aston Rapide and the yet-to-be confirmed Lamborghini Estoque, but come 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March, the Italian supercar maker has plans to show a shooting brake concept based on the 612 Scaglietti.

Design development on the concept is being overseen by Fiat Group design boss and ex-Pininfarina boss Lorenzo Ramaciotti. While no name for the concept has been confirmed, it is reported that Ferrari is building the shooting brake concept to see how far it can stretch away from traditional supercars.

“We know there can never be a Ferrari SUV,” one source told AutoExpress. “But we would like to find out what we can put the marque’s DNA into and still have it accepted as a Ferrari.”

A replacement for the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is also in the works. Codenamed F151, the new coupe will join Ferrari’s GranTurismo line-up alongside the California.
