2011 Kia Optima gets Top Safety Pick rating by IIHS

2010 was a very impressive year for Kia and it is wrapping up with some extra good news. The 2011 Kia Optima has received the highest possible crash safety rating of “Good” in all four tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and has been recognized as a “Top Safety Pick.”

“We are honored that the all-new 2011 Optima has earned the IIHS ‘Top Safety Pick’, joining five other Kia products and underlining the brand’s dedication to the highest levels of vehicle safety and quality,” said Michael Sprague, Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Kia Motors America (KMA).

Refresher: The base 2011 Kia Optima is powered by a 200 hp, 2.0L GDI turbo 4-cylinder. Buyers can also opt for a 274-hp 2.0L GDI 4-cylinder turbo. Available in three trims, LX, EX and SX, the 2011 Kia Optima is on sale now with a starting price tag of $18,995. The 2.4-liter Theta II hybrid Optima goes on sale in early 2011.
