Report: Audi RS4 won’t get a successor, RS5 expected to take its roll

According to a short little snippet in a CARandDRIVER article, rumor has it that the Audi RS4 will not get a direct successor. Apparently the Audi RS5 is expected to fill he needs of the RS4’s clientele.

Audi confirmed earlier this year that it plans on bringing the RS5 to the U.S. market in 2012. Details on equipment levels, pricing and fuel economy standards will be released at a later date.

The automaker has plans for an Audi RS6, which will most likely be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 unit.

Refresher: Power for the 2011 Audi RS5 comes from a 4.2L naturally aspirated V8 making 450-hp and a maximum torque of 317 lb-ft. Mated to a standard 7-speed S tronic, the 2011 RS5 goes from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (electronically governed).
