In the United States, Mercedes-Benz expects to finish 2010 in third-place, when competing against other luxury automakers including Lexus and BMW. However, the brand expects to produce a record number of cars this year as demand for the E and S-Class is climbing.
Mercedes-Benz said in a statement today that it plans to produce 1.2 million cars and SUVs in 2010, beating its previous record of 1.19 million set in 2008.
“Our production was running at high speed, especially in the second half,” Wolfgang Bernhard, who heads Mercedes operations, said in the statement.
Mercedes is the world’s second-largest maker of luxury vehicles, coming in behind BMW.
