Chrysler recalling over 367,000 minivans over airbag risk
Chrysler Group LLC. announced today that it is recalling 367,350 minivans due to a risk that a water leak in the air conditioning system could cause the airbags to go off and risk injury to passengers.
“Chrysler Group LLC will conduct a voluntary safety recall to owners of certain 2008 Chrysler Town & Country and 2008 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan minivans to inspect and replace as necessary Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) drain hose grommets,” said Chrysler in a statement. “Some vehicles may have an improperly installed HVAC hose grommet that could cause moisture to collect on the floor and damage the airbag deployment module.”
Chrysler said it has received a total of five reports of minor injuries related to the problem.
The fix will be completed at no cost to the customer. Notifications will start in February.
