Tuner Wimmer RS has tuned the very light Ariel Atom 3, giving it an extra 40-hp and a drastic improvement in the vehicle’s overall performance numbers. Output on the 2.0L 4-cylinder Honda engine now produces 340-hp and 208 lb-ft of torque.
With the car weighing in at just 1,034 pounds, the upgrade allows the Ariel Atom to run from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.8 seconds and 0 to 124 mph in 7.1 seconds
Wimmer engineers achieved the upgrade by reflashing the ECO and adding a modified supercharged, fuel-pump conversion and a sport exhaust system. Is the Atom able to handle the extra power? Apparently. The internal shocks, pushrod suspension and damper struts are strong enough to handle the extra 40 horses.
