2011 Honda Accord assigned highest rating under new 5-star safety system

2011 Honda Accord gets 5-stars under NHTSA's safety rating

While the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and a couple other models received a five-star overall crash rating under new stricter government tests issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Honda Accord was the only model to get the overall best possible safety rating among 2011 model-year passenger vehicles.

The 2011 Accord, Honda’s top-selling model in the United States, received an overall 5-star rating, according to results posted on the NHTSA’s website. It received five stars on side and frontal crashes and rollovers.

Of the 40 models tested so far under the new rating system, six rated 5 stars overall.

The 2011 Accord is the first to get five stars in each of three crash categories tested by NHTSA.
