Report: Vauxhall/Opel working with Lotus on next high-performance Astra

At the 2010 Paris Motor Show Opel and Vauxhall revealed the GTC Paris Concept, a strong hint “to the Astra Sport Hatch”s successor.” According to AutoCar, General Motors German and British brand turned to Lotus Engineering to fine-tune the upcoming Astra VXR (OPC) for buyers.

While most of the development work on the next-generation is being taken car of Opel’s traditional engineering base in Germany, the company (along with its Vauxhall British counterpart) has been working with Lotus. Lotus is expected to provide consulting for the high-perfomrance version of the Astra for Opel and Vauxhall.

Power for the Opel/Vauxhall GTC Paris concept comes from a 2.0L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 290-hp mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
