Cadillac STS loses V8 for 2011, soldiers on with 3.6L V6

2011 Cadillac STS

We’re not sure how much of a popular seller that Cadillac STS is for General Motors but we can’t imagine it being a big part of the luxury brand’s bread and butter. As far as we remember the DTS and the STS are both scheduled to be replaced by one sedan. However, until that happens the STS will run on for the 2011 model year without a V8 engine.

Cadillac dropped the 469-hp STS-V last year, but for 2011, the STS loses its 4.6L V8 as well. The only engine choice available on the 2011 Cadillac STS is the 3.6L V6 engine (same from Cadillac CTS) making 320-hp mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine gives the STS an average fuel-economy of 18/27 mpg (city/highway) with either rear or all-wheel-drive.

The 2011 Cadillac STS comes in Base, Luxury Collection, Premium Collection and Platinum trim levels with prices starting at $47,280, an increase of $435 over the 2010 model.
