Subaru”s Forester S-Edition has been unveiled down under, at the 2010 Sydney Auto Show, but the ramifications of this concept may very well reverberate in the United States- and maybe soon, as well. Speaking to Inside Line, word is the model provides “some strong clues pointing to a new variant next year” in Australia. And while a Subaru spokesperson may say there are “no plans” regarding the distribution of the model in the States, they may soon be.
The S-Edition pumps up the Forester XT, its base moel- makes 35 more horsepower and 30 more lb-ft of torque than its unbuffed sister, and an automatic gearbox with sport suspension and variable torque distribution to get the most of that power. 17 inch STI alloy wheels, allow pedals, custom seat trim, and S-Edition logos on the seats and car mark the new Subaru.
Given these significant upgrades, and the sheer impressiveness of getting that much power from a straight 4, one would imagine that interest in this model from gearheads in the States might force Subaru to bring it over- hopefully, though, with a manual (or at least a semiautomatic) gearbox.
