BMW’s CEO Norbert Reithofer said yesterday that the automaker has not had any discussion with General Motors on a possible collaboration. His comments came after a German newspaper, Handelsblatt, reported that BMW and GM had informal contact about closer cooperation.
“Absolutely no discussions … not on our end,” Reithofer said. “I don’t know where it comes from.”
BMW, GM and Daimler AG have previously cooperated on hybrid technology in the past.
Saab and BMW recently announced that the German automaker will supply a 1.6L 4-cylinder engines to the Swedish company starting 2012.
