The four-door-coupe luxury sports sedan market is growing every year. The market currently consists the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide and the Audi A7 Sportback. Bentley will now join the segment with its own four-door-coupe, a model that is expected to fit below the Continental and Mulsanne in the brand’s vehicle lineup.
Speaking to AutoExpress at the 2010 Paris Motor Show Bentley boss Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen confirmed that the firm wants to introduce a “third-generation model”.
The Bentley four-door-coupe will be based on the same chassis that underpins the Audi A7 Sportback and will be powered by the 4.0L turbo V8 that the company is currently co-developing with sister brand Audi. Power will be transmitted to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
