The well-regarded technology magazine Popular Mechanics has named two cars to its list of top products of 2010; the Chevrolet Volt and the Nissan Leaf. There is no doubt about it that electric vehicles are the wave of the future, and these two cars are certainly breaking major ground by balancing efficiency with design, comfort, and practicality.
Popular Mechanics on the Chevrolet Volt: “the Volt is more than the sum of its cutting-edge parts: It”s a dramatic reinvention of the great American car, without sacrificing the great American road trip.”
And on the Nissan Leaf: “Brilliant Idea: A pure EV with space for five, a moderate price and enough range for most tasks””plus, an operating cost that’s irresistibly low.”
There are certainly two formats at play here, each with distinct advantages over the other. There is no doubt however, that both cars will be making waves and serve as technological and design models for future generations of clean vehicles.
