General Motors is scheduled to launch production of the 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec powered Buick Regal at the company’s Russelsheim, Germany this week – however, the company is having a lot of trouble keeping up with demand for the base models in the United States.
According to Christopher M. Ayotte, marketing manager for the 2011 Regal, demand for the sedan in the U.S. is outstripping inventory.
“Dealers are asking for double what we can provide in their monthly reorders,” Ayotte toldWardsAuto. He said that the average 2011 Regal transaction price is a little over $28,000.
The turbocharged 2011 Regal is expected to hit showrooms in November. That will be followed by a high-performance 4-banger turbo version, the Regal GS, in 2011.
