Honda posts Sept. 2010 sales gain of 26.1 percent thanks to strong Acura sales

Along with other automakers, Honda posted September 2010 U.S. sales gain of 26.1 percent, or a total of 97,361 units. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 912,436, an increase of 3.7 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate

The sales were driven by strong Acura sales. The brand posted September sales of 10,720, an increase of 47.7 percent versus September 2009. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 4,077, up 83.6 percent.

The Honda brand posted September sales of 86,641, an increase of 23.8 percent versus last year. Accord was the top-selling model with sales of 24,127, up 159 percent, followed by the Civic with sales of 18,637, up 15.8 percent.

“Both Honda and Acura Divisions have car and light-truck products with significant momentum in the marketplace,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “Capped by September”s 47.7 percent increase, Acura Division sales have been up for eight straight months.”
