At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, Lotus showed a hint at the successor of the Lotus Elise compact sports car. The concept, which will enter production as a 2015 model year, is being described as a more ‘grown-up’ Elise with more power, better fuel-efficiency and improved driving dynamics.
Power for the 2015 Lotus Elise will come from a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine still sourced from Toyota – but it will be upgraded by Lotus to produce a total of 320-hp. Weighing in at 2,409 pounds, and mated to a 6-speed manual or a dual-clutch paddle-shifter automatic transmission, the 2015 Elise will go from 0-62 mph in 4.3 seconds. Top speed figures were not released.
Prices of the Lotus Elise are projected to jump up to $55,000 – around $16,000 more than the current entry-level Elise. Lotus says that customers can still expect less expensive versions.
