Hyundai Accent to be based on RB Concept, Elantra coming to LA, Veloster to Detroit

Hyundai has plans to launch three new compact cars within the next year.

Recently unveiled at the 2010 Moscow Motor Show, the RB Concept will come to the United States as the next-generation Accent and will go on sale in mid-2011. In Russia, Hyundai will offer a choice two 4-cylinder engines consisting of a 1.6L making 122-hp and a 1.4L unit making 105-hp. Similar powertrains will be offered in the United States.

At the 2010 LA Auto Show, Hyundai will unveil the redesigned Elantra. That model will be based on the recently unveiled 2011 Hyundai Avante.

In January 2011, Hyundai will unveil the production front-wheel-drive Veloster sports coupe. Power is expected to come from a 1.6L 4-cylinder direct injection engine making 140-hp. Sales are expected to start by the end of 2011.
