Honda Fit Hybrid not coming to U.S. because Insight already fills segment?

2011 Honda Jazz Hybrid / Honda Fit Hybrid

The Honda Jazz Hybrid, which will be known as the Honda Fit Hybrid in Japan, will not be coming to the United States. Why?

According to American Honda executives, there are no plans to sell a hybrid Fit in the U.S. region,” because the Insight already fills that vehicle size and price point.”

That’s a bit surprising to us since the Honda Insight Hybrid is already sold in Europe and the company’s hometown of Japan.

Now we’re not sure what the exact fuel-economy figures on the Honda Jazz Hybrid will be but the compact hybrid vehicle is powered by the same 1.3L i-VTEC gasoline engine mated to the company”s IMA hybrid system and a CVT gearbox that is found in the Insight and the CR-Z.
