New Lancia Stratos in the works, said to be based on Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Lancia Stratos

So we’ve been avoiding this one for a while now but with new details and images popping up everywhere and the history behind the vehicle, it would be sad for us not to cover it. What you’re looking at here is a remake of the mid-engined 1972 Lancia Startos.

The car has been performing track testing at Alfa Romeo’s Balocco track since July with ex-formula one driver Tiago Monteiro piloting the prototype. The model is said to be heavily based on the Ferrari 430 Scuderia with the 510-hp Scuderia engine, which is rumored to be lightly tuned. With the weight coming in under 2,650 pounds, we can expect some outstanding performance figures.

The production of the Lancia Stratos is commissioned by a wealthy industrialist and will be produced in limited numbers by the end of this year. The new version is thought to have been inspired by the 2005 remake developed by the Fenomenon design consultancy.
