Could the XJ75 Platinum Concept spawn a Jaguar XJR? We’d like to think so

Jaguar XJ75 Platinum Concept

Jaguar has made it pretty clear that the XJ75 Platinum Concept that made its debut this past weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours D”Elegance Concept Car Lawn is just a one-off design study, but many of its styling changes could easily be adopted by a XJR.

As of right now, Jaguar says “there are no plans yet” for an XJR, but such a model is almost certain to appear in the XJ’s lifetime given the nameplate’s history, says AutoCar. The Jaguar XJR would compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S 63/65 AMG and Audi S8 models.

The XJ75 Platinum Concept itself is powered by the 5.0L Supercharged direct-injection V8 found in the XJL Supercharged. The engine is good for 470-hp and 424 lb-ft of torque.
