OnStar has record navigation requests in July 2010, Wal-Mart was top destination

General Motors announce today that OnStar subscribers requested more than 2 million routs in July, a record of direction-seeking OnStar blue button pushes. The OnStar team said that subscribers often sought “the nearest Wal-Mart.” Nearly 40,000 navigation requests were made to Wal-Mart in the United States and Canada.
“Whether we route our subscribers to their favorite store or to a new restaurant to meet up with a friend, we are committed to providing drivers with useful and convenient services that make the driving experience a simple, safe and efficient one,” said Scott Kubicki, vice president of subscriber services, OnStar.
Wal-Mart was followed by Holiday Inn at No. 2 – followed by Home Depot, Walgreens, Marriott and McDonald’s – making up the top 5 list of most requested routes by OnStar subscribers.
“During this summer”s busy travel season, our live advisors provided navigation service in record numbers and we expect to see a steady climb in navigation volume,” Kubicki said.
