Report: Toyota FT-86 on track for Nov. 2011 launch, no hybrid version considered

In a press event for its new ‘G’ subdivision, a part of the company which Toyota plans to use in a series of cars modified by Gazoo Racing, the media learned some new updates on the upcoming Toyota FT-86.
According to Dr. Shigeyuki Hori, Project General Manager for the Sports Vehicle Management division and Kazuo Okino, Group manager for the same division, the latest reports of the production FT-86 being delayed to 2013 is false. The car is mostly on schedule for a November 2011 launch and pricing is expected to start at 2.5 million yen (around $29,000 USD) for the mid-level FT-86. Base level pricing will most likely remain around $20,000.
Okino said that the car’s design will remain virtually unchanged when compared to the concept. Also, another relieving piece of news – Toyota has no plans to make a hybrid version of the FT-86. The company is working on a hybrid sports car segment but the FT-86 has nothing to do with it.
