Report: Lotus to show new supercar in Paris that will replace Esprit

The Lotus Esprit, discontinued in 2004, represents storied sports car producer”s Lotus last attempt to develop a full-bodied supercar. It should come to the delight of every true motorhead to hear that Lotus intends to re-enter the supercar fray with an offering to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Perhaps even more exciting, Lotus CEO Danny Bahar intends for the car, as well as most future models, to compete with Ferrari and Aston Martin. The model will replace the Esprit, while we’re not sure if the nameplate will be dropped as well.

While details are still extremely cryptic, this model-which has been in development for at least three years- will show what Lotus has in mind, heading into the future. It has been previously reported that Lotus is preparing a significant shake-up of its lightweight sports car roots in hopes to push upmarket to take on the likes of Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche.
