The Volkswagen Up! (otherwise known as the NSF – New Small Family car), has yet to be officially confirmed for the United States. According to Automobile, the executives at V-dub are indeed considering a Volkswagen E-Up! for select U.S. cities for 2013.

The Volkswagen E-Up! is powered by a 80-hp electric motor with 155 lb-ft of torque. It allows the minicar to go from 0-62 mph in 11.3 seconds and 0 to 31 mph in 3.5 seconds (apparently that’s the new 0 to ‘something’ way to measure exciting performance for mini electric-cars). Volkswagen says that the battery will take up to 5 hours to fully recharge and that a driver can travel for 80 miles on a full charge.

If the Volkswagen E-Up! does come to the United States, expect a Nissan LEAF and E-Up! face off.
