Bentley is considering expanding their Continental line to include a five-door fastback to compete with the Porsche Panamera. High-level sources have said that the firm is considering whether there will be demand for an expanded line of Continentals, and a five-door fast back ala the Panamera seems to be the favorite.

As Bentley gets ready to roll out a new generation of Continentals, they will likely be replacing the GT coupe with a vehicle that will maintain a four-wheel drive chassis and 12-cylinder engine. Engineers are also hard at work to devise a way to trim weight from the car, without sacrificing comfort and refinement.

Franz-Josef Pfaegen, the head of Bentley, has been heard calling the Continental “˜our 911”, indicating a stable body design with slight modification, much like the Porsche 911.
