After General Motors came out of its government-scripted Chapter 11 bankruptcy, its seemed that the company would move its employees from its Renaissance Center headquarters to its technical center in Warren. The Detroit automaker even considered selling the landmark on the riverfront.
However, in February, GM said that it would keep its RenCen rights and its employees at the building, where it now has about 4,400 workers
The future is starting to look even better for RenCen as two popular restaurant companies, Andiamo and Matt Prentice Restaurant Group, are fighting to take over the space once held by the Seldom Blues restaurant.
There is also buzz that Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan may bring up to 3,000 employees from the suburbs to the RenCen’s 500 Tower.
