Montezemolo: V6 engines in Ferrari cars is a possibility

European publication AutoCar and Ferrari seem to be best friends as of lately. The Maranello, Italy automaker has shared a lot with the publication (things like this, this and this) and today Chairman Luca di Montezemolo is admitting that the supercar maker could make a 6-cylinder vehicle in order to improve fuel-economy and emissions.
“An engine smaller than a V8? Why not?” he said in an interview with AutoCar, stating that 6-cylinder engines had been part of company’s heritage.
Nonetheless, Montezemolo said that Ferrari’s future vehicles will not lose their appeal due to the need to meet fuel-economy and emissions regulations. “Our cars are there to enjoy and we have to maintain this,” he said.
The boss said that engineers at the company are continuing work on a V12 hybrid and that the car should be ready within four years.
