Video: 2012 BMW M5 caught around Nurburgring

Spy Shot: 2012 BMW M5 Prototype

A prototype of the upcoming 2012 BMW M5 has been recently making its lap of the Nurburgring, undergoing some high-speed testing. We have a short video of the car driving outside the Nurburgring and hitting up the Nordschleife. We’re guessing BMW is making sure that the new M5 can beat the Cadillac CTS-V sedan around the famous German track.

Power is expected to come from an updated version of the 4.4L V8 twin-scroll engine found in the BMW X6 M and X5 M. Sources says power ratings will come in at 578-hp and a maximum torque of 530 lb-ft. 0-62 mph is expected to come in under 4.4 seconds (CTS-V does it in 3.9 seconds).
