Chrysler recalls 40,000 vehicles to repair ignition issue

2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8

A defect that allows the removal of the key from the ignition before the car is shifted into park is the impetus behind a recall of more than 40,000 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. This is causing concerns that these vehicles could become “˜run-away” vehicles and take-off with or without the driver behind the wheel.

Included in the recall are many of Chrysler”s top sellers which include the Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Ram pickup-truck, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The NHTSA has warned of these cars potentially being involved in cases of “˜unintended movement”, a serious warning. We don’t think NHTSA has ever used the word “unintended” as much as they are these days.
