BMW has been welcoming visitors to its Spartanburg, S.C. assembly plant since the 1990’s, but now plans to put the tour into overdrive. Dubbed ‘The Ultimate BMW Experience’, the new tour package, which runs $99 per person, will be by reservation only and include a behind-the scenes guided walk through BMW’s plant, a tour of the Zentrum museum and theatre (BMW’s onsite theatre and museum), and a two-hour driving experience at its Performance Center driving school across the street.
Purchasers of the premium tour will also have access to rare vehicle demonstrations and complimentary meals. Currently, Spartanburg charges $7 per person to take a tour into the limited areas of the factory, which build the X5 and X6.
Guests will have access to previously restricted areas, such as the paint shop and door line, guided by a concierge. Speakers, catered meals, and test drives are all going to be at the heart of the tour planning.
“People have been asking us for more tours,” says spokeswoman Bunny Richardson. “We have a lot of resources here. So we’re going to try to make more of them available to people who are interested.”
