Report: No M version of the 1-Series… but you can expect a 135is
Within the past two months, you’ve read headlines like these:
- Report: BMW”s M division working on 350-hp M1
- M version of BMW 1-Series hasn”t received the green light”¦ yet
- More details on the M version 1-Series, and a new “˜teaser”
All those probably have those that love mini high-performance coupes shaking in their boots – but unfortunately, it ain’t gonna happen.
According a source that spoke with Inside Line at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, BMW has no plans to produce an M version of the 1-Series.
“If we do something, it’ll be a 135is like we’ve done with the Z4 and the 3 Series,” the source said.
That means you can keep your hopes up for the 320-hp 3.0L twin-turbo N54 inline-6 engine making it under the hood of something called the 135is… and hell yes we’ll settle for that.
