2010 Ford Focus global performance version confirmed, will use EcoBoost engine
In its press release for the 2012 Ford Focus Wagon earlier today, FoMoCo confirmed that it is working on a global performance version of new Focus using Ford EcoBoost engine technology.
“At Geneva, Ford is also confirming that a global performance vehicle will be developed as part of the next-generation Focus range, and that it will be powered by a version of the 4-cylinder Ford EcoBoost engine family,” Ford said in a statement.
According to a report by CARandDRIVER, a Ford spokesman confirmed that the car will be identical all around the world, however, what it will be badged in each region has yet to be decided. Ford is still deciding whether the model will be called Focus SVT in the U.S. or if it will import the popular ST badge from Europe.
Either way, don’t expect this version of the high-performance Focus to be an RS, as sources confirmed that this car will be more ST in nature.
