Spyker CEO still hopeful of bid for Saab, GM still considering other bids

GM has announced that it is prepared to wait before determining the fate of Saab, however, it will continue winding down the brand in the mean time. Saab board member Paul Aakerlund has said if that there is a bid that GM finds sufficient, it would be willing to ignore the December 31st date that it set for itself.

Spyker CEO Victor Muller, whose company has been involved in talks to acquire Saab, remains hopeful that he still has a chance. Muller expects to be contacted soon, as GM has set the deadline for the 31st of this month.

Spyker’s first bid on the possibly-doomed Swedish carmaker was rejected by GM, only to be followed by a second offer two days later; the offer that Muller is waiting to hear back on. A Wyoming based group, Merbanco Inc., is also rumored to be involved in some sort of offer.
