More info leaks out on the 2011 Ford Mustang GT

While Ford had planned on keeping all the details on the 2011 Ford Mustang GT under the wraps until December 28, information on the new model has been leaking out since last night following a pre-auto show event for the press.

As reported earlier this morning, the 2011 Ford Mustang GT will carry a 5.0L V8 making 412-hp. According to AutoWeek, the next Mustang GT will produce 390 lb-ft of torque. It will produce 83-hp per liter and will return 25 mpg.

The new 5.0L V8 has all-new heads that sit at the top of an all-new aluminum block with cast-iron cylinder sleeves – allowing the engine to breathe more freely. It features four valves per cylinder and twin independent variable valve timing. Peak horsepower on the 2011 Mustang GT is reached at 6,500 rpm.

The transmission is fitted with a 6R80 automatic transmission or a MT82 6-speed manual.
