GM to offer BlackBerry, iPhone apps for the Chevrolet Volt

While GM has yet to release any official pricing details for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, it is widely known that GM’s new electric plug-in vehicle will cost $40,000 orĀ about $32,500 after a $7,500 federal tax credit. In an attempt to get consumers to pay that much for a Chevy, GM is packing the Volt with new tech features to give it a more upmarket appeal.

Chevrolet Volt BlackBerry StormOne recently seen feature is an app for BlackBerry and iPhones that will allow Volt owners to communicate with an onboard computer to access information about their vehicle. Sources say that the application will be released very soon.

We’re guessing the app will let you know such things as the vehicle’s charging status, if there are any charging stations nearby and other critical information.
